A Sad Day For Clinton Haters

If you have wondered why the number of anti-Clinton diaries is on the decline in the netroots....

The Weekly World News which bills itself as the "World's Only Reliable Newspaper" has gone out of business. If you can find a copy the last issue is on the rack in your supermarket checkout lane.

They diligently reported on Hillary Clinton for decades. Their last major political exclusive was the scoop that Hillary Clinton has selected Bigfoot as her running mate.

Re: A Sad Day For Clinton Haters (3.00 / 0)

They had a great retrospective out there published by Barnes & Noble a couple of years ago called Bat Boy Lives. Maybe they knew they were on their way out.

Ah well. This just goes to show that you can't make a living anymore without reporting on the essentials: the current length of Britney Spears' hair.

So, wait.... (3.00 / 1)

You're saying Bigfoot isn't going to be Hillary Clinton's running mate???

Well, now I've definitely got no reason to support her!

Seriously, though, Senator Clinton aside, I'm sad to see the Weekly World News go. It was a fun distraction in the check-out aisle.

Re: So, wait.... (2.80 / 5)

This mindless Clinton bashing has to stop, Bigfoot never was a plausible VP candidate. He never brought anything to the ticket, He lives in solidly Blue state and doesn't have any executive experience.

Besides the gossip on the Hill is that he has weird fetishes...

Ohhh, that sounds fun.  I love the Vineyard and Carly, too.  Chelsea was there, huh?  I hope she hits the trail soon.  It would be good for Hillary.

Re: So, wait.... (none / 0)

Yeah Chelsea was there , it looked like it was a rally so that would mean it was her first appearance right.

I might be mistaken , because it was more reported that there were more than 2000 people there. I am assuming that will be a rally , although its pitched as a fundraiser . I don't know more than that .

Re: So, wait.... (none / 0)

My understanding is that there are different fundraising events. The one mentioned is a low price event, whose main purpose may be to boost those 'grassroots numbers'(=Obama T shirts sold). Then there will be a high dollar event...

Re: So, wait.... (none / 0)

I  love her strategy of going after the Bush Administration and all their failings , She's not even bothered about her competitors who are desperately trying to get a bite off her. She is putting everyone on notice that Bush , His legacy is tied around the republicans neck and they are all going to be on the ballot next year.

Great move.

Re: So, wait.... (3.00 / 1)

I agree with her strategy, especially after today's article in the Monitor.  Everyone is up in arms about her supposedly using Repubs' talking points, but what she's actually doing is pointing out the myth of the Repub superiority on National Security.  She basically saying that no matter how much the Repubs screw up, Iraq, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, they are still viewed as having our best interests at heart when it comes to National Security matters.  I don't think that announcing a war on the war on terror (Edwards) and talking unconditionally to our adversaries/enemies (Obama) adequately anwers the questions whether we (Dems) are as prepared to deal with every national security matter as Repub.  I am adamantly against inciting our fears by creating boogeymen in Iraq, Iraq, here in the U.S, but Democrats have to present their ideas about terrorism and what they will do to address it.  Yesterday Hillary presented her views, and they were fleshed out in today's Monitor article.

Re: So, wait.... (3.00 / 1)

Looks like the campaign has ramped up its fundraising and they are reaching out to small donor base now. They have adopted some pages from the more unconventional ways Obama uses in his fundraising.

I personally am getting about 10 friends to contribute between 100 - 200 bucks before the deadline.

Too bad we are poor college folks. If I had more I would have maxed out (4800) by now , thats how excited I am about her campaign.

Re: So, wait.... (none / 0)

What?! Oh no you didn't! Bigfoot would of been the best damn Vice President for Hillary Clinton, man, and that's a fact. Baseless fact, but a fact nonetheless. It would of been a landslide. I'm talking an FRD, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan landslide, man.

Take it back...

Interesting (1.00 / 0)

Is this guy connected to Obama? Ralph Dawson.

http://time-blog.com/swampland/

DNC sources tell me that Florida was surprised by the harshness of the sanction, having expected to lose only 50% of its pledged delegates. No one was taking that threat particularly seriously, and the state knew it might even be able to win those delegates back in a floor fight at the convention. The motion to impose the harsher measure was made by Ralph Dawson, a lawyer who grew up in South Carolina, the state that had the most to lose from Florida's move. (Dawson, who has not yet endorsed a presidential candidate, was DNC Chairman Howard Dean's roommate at Yale, as well as a former student of Congressman Jim Clyburn, South Carolina's most influential African-American politician.)

Florida losing delegates? No way
by kos

Adam B notes that a DNC committee has voted to strip Florida of its delegates unless it moves its primary back within the next 30 days.

Any such decision will never stick. Never.

Does anyone really think that Democrats will disenfranchise the delegates of a large swing state, whether it's Florida or Michigan?

The DNC is powerless. All it has is bluster. And as soon as we have a nominee, the first thing that person will do is rescind any such decision

Re: A Sad Day For Clinton Haters (none / 0)

I think every day is a sad day for Weekly World News readers.  And I also think I'd like Clinton more if she adopted an alien baby.

What, she isn't a space alien herself?  I'm shocked.

Chelsea...not so much, though I should have known from the pictures.   Guess I didn't keep up with WWN....  :-D

I bought it once or twice because of some headlines- one was they found John the Baptist's head somewhere- but I was perplexed at how they were making a profit- I couldn't imagine someone buying it every week- but it was pretty funny.

Re: Another Gaffe on foreign policy by Clinton (none / 0)

Clinton talks about getting rid of Ma;iki:
I'll side with Maliki on this one. Just read in the news that there's a large PR operation on behalf of Maliki's predecessor, Allawi, going on in the Beltway. Levin, Clinton, AND the current WH don't like the fact that Maliki asked the US to leave his country. How preposterous to first announce the victory of Democracy in Iraq and then demand the elected leader to be exchanged because he doesn't serve American interests! Liberated country, protectorate, colony. Which is it?
